Riverhead Pair Charged With Murder After Man's Shooting Death: PD

A 25-year-old from Shirley was found fatally shot in Coram and a man and woman from Riverhead have been charged with murder, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A man and woman from Riverhead have been arrested and charged in the shooting death of a 25-year-old Suffolk man earlier in December, police said.

Branzel Bonner Jr. of Shirley was found shot to death in a wooded area in Coram on Dec. 2, police said.

Marcus Reid, 23, was arrested on Dec. 13 and Monique Brown, 28, was arrested on Dec. 28 and both were charged with second-degree murder, police said. They have been arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip.

Officers responding to a 911 call found Bonner shot, said police, adding that he was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call the homicide squad at 631-852-6392 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers, a confidential police hotline, at 1-800-220-TIPS.
