Riverhead Sports Authority Employees Caught Stealing Merchandise: Police

The due had been stealing for a period of weeks, police said.

RIVERHEAD, NY - Two Riverhead Sports Authority employees were caught red-handed after stealing from the store over a period of weeks, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, authorities responded to the store, located at 1160 Old Country Road, at 5:13 p.m. on Wednesday after a report of grand larceny.

Upon arrival, police determined that store employees had been stealing merchandise from the store over a period of time, police said.

The Riverhead Police Department's detective division was notified and conducted an investigation into the matter; it was determined that store employees Kerry J. Nash, 19, and Matthew F. Fineron, 20, both of Riverhead, had been stealing merchandise from the store between the dates of April 28 and May 8.

They were arrested and charged with grand larceny in the third degree, processed at Riverhead Police Department and held for a morning arraignment, police said.
