Riverhead Town Police Provide Storm Safety Tips For Residents

Residents should be prepared as four to eight inches will be falling in the area throughout the day.

Snow is currently falling throughout Riverhead Town with four to eight inches expected by late on Thursday which should end by 10 p.m. and temperatures will be in the mid 20’s with the wind chill in the teens.

In these conditions, Riverhead Police advise residents that when outside, they should cover exposed areas of skin.

With all roads slick and snow covered, police warn residents to use extreme caution and reduce speed when leaving their residence or business.

In case of an emergency dial 911 or call the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500.

They also tell residents to remove snow and ice from the sidewalks in front of their property but to not shovel snow into the street and to make sure fire hydrants are visible and shoveled out.
