Riverhead Town Supervisor Declares Winter Storm Event
The event will be effective until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15.

Riverhead Town Supervisor Sean Walter declared a Winter Storm Event until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15.
Traveling in the area is not recommended according to Riverhead Town Police.
High Winds and the accumulated light snow have created hazardous conditions on the roads. Any roads next to open areas are experience major drifting and black ice conditions.

Reeves Avenue and Hulse Landing Road are currently closed.
Portions of Sound Avenue and State Route 25 in Jamesport have been closed due to numerous accidents.

Police advise residents not to plan on traveling or spending a lot of time outdoors on Sunday.
Residents who must leave their business or residence, are advised to protect exposed areas of skin, use extreme caution, reduce speed and to make sure to carry a cellphone.
Residents are also asked to make sure all vehicles are parked off road as not to hamper plowing.

All residents are urged to remove their vehicles from the street from the street to increase the effectiveness of snowplowing operations.
Do not shovel snow into the street and make sure if there is a fire hydrant nearby to make sure it is visible and shoveled out.
