Riverhead Water District to Flush Water Mains

The Riverhead Water District announced Monday that it will conduct a fall flushing of water mains beginning next week.

The flushing will begin on Sunday, Nov. 8, and continue through Sunday, Nov. 14 during normal business hours from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The following areas will be affected:

• Roanoke Avenue (at intersection with Middle Road) to Reeves Avenue
• Reeves Avenue to Doctors Path
• Doctors Path to Middle Road
• Middle Road to Roanoke Avenue

Officials are advising residents in those areas to check their water before doing any laundry during the hours when flushing is taking place.

If the water is discolored, run the cold water only for several minutes. If the water is still discolored, wait a while and try again.
