LONG ISLAND, NY — A woman paralyzed after a crash in 2018 needs an electric wheelchair that could open the door to a new life.

According to Gina Nicolozzi of Riverhead, Lavinia Arcuri, 44, was in a "horrible accident," a crash on September 28, 2018, that left her paralyzed from the waist down.

Nicolozzi has organized a GoFundMe, "Electric Wheelchair," to help.

"Lavinia has worked so hard to be where she is today," she wrote. "It has been a very long road but she is finally stable and staying positive to live the best life she can live."

Lavinia, Nicolozzi said, has goals, and hopes to find housing; an electric wheelchair would help.

"Because she is paralyzed, she needs a more advanced wheelchair to support her and tilt back for all day use," she said. "Lavinia was in nursing since the age of 18. She is beyond amazing — and I hope we can raise enough money to get her her dream ride."
