Robber Armed With Knife Holds Up Riverhead Mini Mart: Police

He was armed with a knife and a black plastic bag over his face, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — An armed robber held up a Riverhead mini mart at knifepoint early Monday morning, police said.

According to the Riverhead Police Department, the incident took place at 4:01 a.m. at the Stop & Go Mini Mart on West Main Street. The robber is described as being black or a dark-skinned Hispanic male, who spoke only Spanish and wore a black baseball type hat with white writing and a black plastic bag/mask over his face; he was also wearing a black T-shirt, black shorts and tan and beige shoes, police said.

He entered the store brandishing the knife and demanded cash from an employee behind the counter, police said. After obtaining the cash, he fled from the store on foot in an unknown direction, police said.
