Robert James Salon Reopens in New Digs
The new location of the salon is 134 East Main Street in Riverhead.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held this week to celebrate the reopening of the Robert James Salon in its new location on East Main Street in Riverhead.
The salon's new address is 134 East Main Street.
According to Riverhead Town officials, the new, 2,100 square foot store is located in a portion of the former Woolworth building and is approximately one third the size of its former location across the street.

Owner Ray Pickersgill said construction took approximately two weeks; he's said in past months that the smaller facility was a financial necessity.
“We simply had too much space in the former location based on current demand for services,” said Pickersgill, also president of the Riverhead Business Improvement District. “We have a strong, unwavering commitment to downtown Riverhead and believe that the revitalization of the business district will continue. This new store allows us to remain in Riverhead for the long-term to serve residents and visitors to downtown Riverhead for years to come.”

Pickersgill has also said that his business was hit hard by Sandy.
Riverhead Town Supervisor Sean Walter was onhand for the ribbon cutting. “On behalf of the town board, I wish to congratulate the Pickersgill family on opening Robert James Salon in its new location. Ray and his family have indeed demonstrated that they continue to believe fully in the ongoing resurgence of downtown Riverhead."
The Robert James Salon is open Tuesday through Sunday. For appointments, call 631-208-8155.
