Royal Dorado Loses Liquor License in Riverhead: Police
BREAKING: The New York State Liquor Authority revoked the business' license after two assaults in a week at the bar, police said.

RIVERHEAD, NY — After two attacks in a week at an East Main Street bar in Riverhead, the business lost its liquor license Monday, police said.
According to Riverhead Town Police, the Riverhead bar, D.A.P. Inc., doing business as “Royal Dorado” at 1005 East Main Street in Riverhead, surrendered their liquor license, following charges brought by the State Liquor Authority.
On August 28, Riverhead Police report charged a man with felony assault following a fight at the Royal Dorado, the second attack occurring at the bar that week.

Six days earlier, on August 22, a Riverhead man required hospitalization after he was assaulted directly outside the premises, police said.
Following the assaults, investigators from the SLA and officers from the Riverhead Police Department conducted a compliance inspection at the premises, where the SLA found two unlicensed bouncers and the Riverhead Police citied the establishment for code violations, police said.

On March 1, the SLA also imposed a $8,500 fine for seven violations, including a July 25, 2015 assault during a brawl occurring at the premises parking lot, police said, and a stabbing and assault that police said occurred on August 1, 2015. In imposing the fine, the SLA put the owner on notice that subsequent violations would lead to the revocation of the license.
According to Riverhead Town Police, the most recent incident took place on August 28 2:55 a.m. at the Royal Dorado; police arrived and determined that Jahir Luna-Martinez, 21, of Calverton, had assaulted a Riverhead man, 24, with a belt buckle.
The victim suffered a laceration to his head and was treated at the scene by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps personnel, police said.
Luna-Martinez was arrested at the scene and was transported to Riverhead Police Headquarters where he was processed on the charge of second degree assault and held for arraignment, police said.
The New York State Liquor Authority was notified of the incident, police said.
The attack was the second in a week at the location, police said.
A 31-year-old man was attacked on East Main Street in Riverhead on August 22, police said.
According to Riverhead Town Police, the man said that while he was at the Royal Dorado he was assaulted outside the front door by another male patron.
The victim suffered a laceration to the hand believed to have been caused by a knife, police said.
Once back at his Riverhead home, the man was taken by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury to his hand, police said.
The Riverhead Police Department's detective division was notified and responded and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
