MTA Keeps Mask Mandate In Place Despite Federal Judge's Decision

A U.S. District Court in Florida struck down the CDC mandate for travelers and commuters, but MTA will continue to require masks.

LONG ISLAND, NY — A federal judge in Florida has struck down the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's mask mandate for travelers on planes, buses, trains and other modes of transportation.

U.S. District Court Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle in Tampa said the CDC had overstepped its legal authority by imposing the mandate last year.

The CDC recently renewed the travel mask mandate until May 3. It was due to expire on April 18, ABC7 reported.
