Republicans reigned in Riverhead on Election Night.
After the dust settled, Riverhead Town Supervisor Sean Walter won his bid for a third term in office.
Walter, a Republican won the race handily, besting his challenger, Democrat Angela DeVito, with a final tally of 3917 to 3090.
The GOP continued its win with town board candidates in a close race — incumbents Jodi Giglio and John Dunleavy kept their seats; Giglio garnered 3634 votes and Dunleavy, 3495.
"I am very thankful that the taxpayers have confidence in me and for the work I have done, and their trust in me to complete the work that needs to be done for this town to meet its full potential," said Giglio. "My opponents ran against the progress this town has seen for the last four years. I encourage them to stay involved and become active. It's obvious they love and care about this town as much as I do. They are good quality candidates that ran a clean campaign. It was nice to see a good clean campaign by all."
Added winner Dunleavy: "Now we can move forward and continue to revitalize Riverhead. A big thanks to all who supported me."
Democratic challenger Millie Thomas received 3141; Bill Bianchi, who also ran on the Democratic ticket, received 3045 votes.
