Search On For Excavator Thief: Cops

RIVERHEAD, NY — The search is on for an excavator thief, police said.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Riverhead Town Police detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify whoever stole the Caterpillar 315 CL excavator from 111 Maestro Road in Riverhead sometime between April 20 and May 5, police said.

The serial number is CJC00501, and the excavator's value is estimated at $100,000, police said.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about the incident can contact Suffolk County Crime Stoppers to submit an anonymous tip by calling 1-800-220-TIPS, texting “SCPD” and a message to “CRIMES” (274637) or emailing www.tipsubmit.com. All calls, text messages and emails will be kept confidential.
