Search On for Man Who Stole 2 Safes from Cooperage Inn: Police

The man burglarized the popular restaurant earlier this month.

BAITING HOLLOW, NY - The search is on for a thief who stole two safes from the Cooperage Inn in Baiting Hollow, police said.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and detectives from the Riverhead Police Department are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the person who burglarized the restaurant.

A man entered Cooperage Inn, located at 2218 Sound Ave., on July 2 at 3:41 a.m., and stole the safes, which contained an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
