Second Assault at East Main Street Bar in A Week: Police

BREAKING: Two attacks have taken place in a week at the Royal Dorado in Riverhead, police said.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A man was assaulted early Sunday in the parking lot of a bar on East Main Street in Riverhead, the second time in a week an attack took place at the location, police siad.

According to Riverhead Town Police, the incident took place at 2:55 a.m. at the Royal Dorado; police arrived and determined that Jahir Luna-Martinez, 21, of Calverton, had assaulted a Riverhead man, 24, with a belt buckle.

The victim suffered a laceration to his head and was treated at the scene by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps personnel, police said.

Luna-Martinez was arrested at the scene and was transported to Riverhead Police Headquarters where he was processed on the charge of second degree assault and held for arraignment, police said.

The New York State Liquor Authority will be notified of the incident, police said.

The attack is the second in a week at the location, police said.

A 31-year-old manwas attacked on East Main Street in Riverhead on August 22, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, the man said that while he was at the Royal Dorado he was assaulted outside the front door by another male patron.

The victim suffered a laceration to the hand believed to have been caused by a knife, police said.

Once back at his Riverhead home, the man was taken by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury to his hand, police said.

The Riverhead Police Department's detective division was notified and responded and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
