Senior Wrestler Scores 100th Win

RIVERHEAD, NY — A Riverhead High School senior wrestler made the district proud recently when he scored his 100th varsity win.

Wrestling captain Mark Matyka reached the milestone on Jan. 13 during the Warrior Duels hosted by Comsewogue High School, according to the district.

The win also secures Matyka’s record of 22-0, with 15 of his wins by pin this season, the district said.

He is currently ranked first in Suffolk County at 106 lbs., district officials said.

“Mark has worked very hard for this accomplishment and we are very proud of him,” said Brian Sacks, director of health, physical education and athletics.
