Slick, Icy Roads Wednesday Morning Sparks Warning From NWS

"Motorists are urged to slow down and travel with caution this morning," the NWS says.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Long Islanders are in for a slippery commute Wednesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday night's precipitation has moved out of the area.

However, many areas continue to see surface temperatures at or slightly below freezing, the NWS said.

The residual moisture from the precipitation combined with the cold surface temperatures will result in slick and icy surfaces, the NWS said.

"Motorists are urged to slow down and travel with caution this morning," the NWS said.

Residents have reported black ice on sidewalks and pathways, as well.
