SHOREHAM-WADING RIVER, NY — Hundreds of students were welcomed back to school with smiles and music Wednesday in the Shoreham-Wading River Central School District.

Miller Avenue School students were greeted by Principal Christine Carlson and their teachers. Wading River School Principal Lou Parrinello celebrated students’ entry into the school with Welcome Ambassadors and a fist pump, while “Indiana Jones” and “Star Wars” theme songs played throughout the hallways, the district said.

Wading River also reviewed schoolwide expectations with grade-level assemblies. According to Parrinello, they collectively agreed to be kind, polite and awesome and were encouraged to celebrate each other’s differences and special talents.
