Snowmobiler Wracks Up Thousands of Dollars in Damage At Golf Club: Police

BREAKING: The damage was done when an unknown individual decided to go for a joyride during or after the recent snowfall, police said.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A snowmobiler's wild ride in a Riverhead golf course wracked up thousands of dollars in damage, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, authorities responded to a call Sunday at 3 p.m. at Cherry Creek Golf Links on Reeves Avenue; upon arrival, Cherry Creek management reported that on Sunday morning, they discovered two putting greens, sand traps and T-boxes that were damaged by what appeared to be a snowmobile.

Riverhead Police detectives responded to investigate the reported damage, which appeared to have happened during or after the recent snowfall, when an unknown snowmobile operator drove onto the Cherry Creek property, traversing the golf course and causing damage that was concentrated to several putting greens, police said.

Damage is estimated at thousands of dollars, police said.
