Social Media Influencer Stole Identity, Charged $19K: DA
The social media influencer stole an identity, charged $19K and tried to charge an additional $31K in fraudulent purchases, DA says.
RIVERHEAD, NY — A social media influencer who allegedly stole the identity of a Suffolk County resident, charged $19,000 and attempted to charge an additional $31,000 in fraudulent purchases to credit cards in the person's name with the individual's personal identification information is set to be indicted Friday, Suffolk County District Attorney Tim Sini said.
The social media influencer has 185,000 followers on his Instagram account and has a YouTube channel with more than 42,000 subscribers, Sini said.
The arraignment on the indictment is slated to take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday in front of Suffolk County Supreme Court Justice Richard Ambrose at the Arthur M. Cromarty Criminal Court Complex in Riverhead, Sini said.
