Spicy's Promises: 'We Will Be Back Bigger And Better'

Spicy's, with beloved chicken and ribs spots in Riverhead and Bellport, promises to be back after being seized due to non-payment of taxes.

RIVERHEAD, NY — It appears that all is not lost for the scores of hungry customers craving ribs, fried chicken and collard greens who were devastated Tuesday, taking to social media to share the news that longtime favorite eatery, Spicy's BBQ Restaurants in Riverhead and Bellport, had been seized due to non-payment of taxes — bright orange signs announcing the fact displayed in the windows of the businesses.

A Facebook post on the Spicy's Facebook page Wednesday read: "Don't worry, we will not be permanently closing our restaurant! Spicy's BBQ will be reopening shortly. Stay tuned for a grand reopening date! We will be back bigger and better. Sorry for any inconvenience."

The New York State Department of State's State Tax Warrant Notice System reported that the business, Spicy's Chicken Restaurant Corp. has two current tax liens, one for $222,603.44 from November 1, 2017 and one for April 20, 2018, for $100.
