State Police Report: DWI Arrests, Drug Possession Arrests

A list of recent crime activity as reported by the state police.

State Police-Riverside report the following arrests in the area over the past week:

  • A 22-year-old Manorville man was arrested on Tuesday, May 19 for fifth degree criminal possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of marijuana after being stopped for speeding on State Route 27 in the vicinity of exit 64 in East Quogue. He was released on appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Southampton Court on May 27.
  • Melvin Alverdoortega, 25, of Southold, was arrested on Saturday, May 23 for aggravated DWI after being stopped for speeding on County Route 105 in Riverside. Alverdoortega was released on traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Southampton Court at a later date.
  • A 25-year-old Forest Hills man was arrested on Saturday, May 23 for unlawful possession of marijuana after the vehicle he was a passenger in was stopped for speeding on State Route 27 west of exit 65 in Hampton Bays. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Southampton Court on June 24.
  • John Gamble, 33, of Northampton was arrested on Sunday, May 24 for felony DWI after being stopped for avoiding a traffic signal and unsafe turn on West Main Street at Peconic Avenue in Riverhead. Gamble committed the violations in an apparent attempt to avoid a sobriety check point. Gamble was charged with Felony DWI due to a previous conviction for DWI. Gamble was held for arraignment in the Town of Riverhead Court.
