Suffolk County Sheriff's Office's Project Lifesaver Initiative Receives Donation

The Long Island Chapter of the National Aging in Place Council donates $1,650 in support of the initiative.

The Long Island Chapter of the National Aging in Place Council (NAIPC) made a donation of $1,650 in support of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office’s Project Lifesaver Initiative on Wednesday, Sept 10.

Project Lifesaver is wristband technology that can be worn by individuals with cognitive impairments who have a tendency to wander. The device emits a signal that County Deputy Sheriffs can track in the event the individual ever wanders off and gets lost.

The donation from the Long Island Chapter of NAIPC, which was raised from two local businesses, i Fix Screens and 101 Mobility Long Island, will provide financial support for individuals that do not have the resources to purchase the wristbands. The devices cost $300 each.
