SUV Collides With Ambulance On Northville TPK

Ambulance transporting patient involved in accident.

An ambulance crew is recovering tonight after an incident that occured tonight just after 7:30 p.m. The ambulance from Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Company was transporting a patient to Stony Brook University Hospital when it was struck by another vehicle at the intersection of Northville Tpk (County Rd 24) and Middle Road.

The Riverhead Fire Department was immediately dispatched to the scene to assist. The Fire Department had to remove the door of the ambulance because of the impact from where the SUV had struck. The crew and driver of the other vehicle were transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for evaluation and treatment of minor injuries. The civilian patient that they were transporting was released to Manorville Ambulance Company to complete the transport to Stony Brook.

At this time police are still investigating and no arrests or summonses were issued.
