Sweet Dreams Pastry Chef Competition Raises Almost $12,000

Event Showcases Long Island's Culinary Talent While Supporting Community Health Care

Peconic Bay Medical Center (PBMC) announced its 2nd annual Sweet Dreams Pastry Chef Competition & Wine Tasting Event, held at the Inn & Spa at East Wind in Wading River, had more than 100 guests and raised almost $12,000 to support the hospital’s Emilie Roy Corey Center for Women and Infants and Breast Health Programs. As part of the event, top chefs from across Long Island competed in a dessert competition judged by a panel of culinary experts.

“The incredible support from our community at this year’s Sweet Dreams event highlights the importance of investing in health care services that make a difference in people’s lives,” said Amy Loeb, EdD, MBA, RN, President of PBMC. “The creativity and generosity displayed by our chefs and attendees directly support our mission to provide the highest level of care to those who depend on us. We are deeply grateful to all who participated to make the event sweet and successful.”

Led by PBMC’s Executive Chef, Chris Singlemann, chefs crafted themed chocolate masterpieces while competing in categories for the healthiest, most creative, and best overall dessert. Chef Kimberle Lau from Bake Me Healthy earned the prize of Healthiest while attendees voted for Anali Roldan from Sugar Dreams Bakery to win the Best Centerpiece and Larry Kaiser from 1760 Homestead Farms, who earned the title of People’s Choice. Interactive voting, and an electric atmosphere made the evening memorable for all who attended. In addition to the delicious competition, guests enjoyed live professional chef demonstrations, raffles, and an inspiring sense of camaraderie throughout the evening.

Proceeds from the event will directly benefit the Emilie Roy Corey Center for Women and Infants and Breast Health Programs. The new Center for Women and Infants reaffirms PBMC’s commitment to comprehensive women’s health services, from labor and delivery to menopause and midlife medicine. These programs ensure that Suffolk County residents have access to the latest advances in breast health, urogynecology, neonatology, and specialized care for women at all stages of life.

“Comprehensive care for women is at the core of what we do,” said Dr. Julie S.R. Gonzalez, Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at PBMC. “Our services span the entire spectrum of women’s health—from labor and delivery to menopause and midlife medicine—ensuring that women in our community receive personalized, advanced care at every stage of life. Whether it is welcoming new life or navigating health challenges later in life, we are here to support, guide, and empower women throughout their health journey.”

The Breast Health Programs at Peconic Bay Medical Center continues to provide comprehensive breast health services, including screenings, diagnostics, treatment, and support services, making expert care accessible close to home. These services support both women and men in navigating breast cancer at any stage.
