Taxi Driver Robbed At Knifepoint Outside BJ's: Police
Before the got out of the taxi, one man put a knife to his neck and the other stole money from his pocket, police say.
RIVERHEAD, NY — A taxi driver was robbed in the parking lot outside BJ's in Riverhead Wednesday night, police said.
According to Riverhead Town Police, the incident took place at 11:52 p.m., when police received a report regarding the robbery of a taxi driver in the Riverhead B.J's Wholesale parking lot.
The taxi driver, 38, reported that he had been dispatched to picked up three men in the Riverhead area for a taxi fare to the store, police said.

As they exited the taxi, one of the men put a knife to his neck and demanded he give him his money, while a second man removed cash from the driver's pocket, police said.
The men fled the scene, heading north toward Old Country Road, police said. Officers conducted a search with the help of the Riverhead Police K-9 unit, but no one was immediately located in the area, police said.

The three men are all described as being around 5'5", possibly in their early 20s with thin builds, police said. Anyone with information in reference to the matter is asked to call the Riverhead Police at 631-727-4500.
