Thief Breaks Glass Door, Steals Cash Drawer: Cops

Police say they are searching for whoever stole the cash from the deli.

RIVERHEAD, NY — Someone stole a cash drawer from a Riverhead deli Sunday, police said.

According to the Riverhead Police Department, a call was received at 8:47 p.m. about a commercial burglary in progress at Natea's Deli on Old Country Road; someone entered the business by breaking the glass front door, police said.

The thief removed a cash drawer with an unknown amount of money, police said.

A Suffolk County Sheriff's Office K9 unit was also called to the scene in an attempt to locate the person, but no one was found, police said.
