Thief Struggled With Store Employees Before Fleeing on Christmas Eve: Police

RIVERHEAD, NY — Police are searching for a woman who robbed a Riverhead store last month, struggling with employees before fleeing the scene, authorities said.

Suffolk County Crime Stopper and Riverhead Police Department detectives are searching for the woman, who entered Epic Jeans, located in the Tanger Outlet Center, 1770 West Main St., on December 24 at 6:25 p.m., and stole North Face clothing and accessories.

As the woman was exiting the store with the merchandise, she was approached by an employee; the suspect physically struggled with the employee before she fled the store to a waiting vehicle believed to be a pickup truck, police said.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
