Third Graders Use Smarts To Snag Holiday Candy Canes
The kids had to use math, ELA and science skills to solve holiday-themed puzzles and win the candy canes.

RIVERHEAD, NY — No one's smarter than these third graders: Riley Avenue Elementary School students in the Riverhead Central School District celebrated the holiday season on Dec. 20 by breaking into breakout boxes filled with candy canes.
To gain access to the boxes, the students in Beth Menis’ class had to solve a variety of holiday-themed puzzles using their math, ELA and science skills, the district said.
