Two Men Robbed, Assaulted by Group in Riverhead

The incident occurred on Railroad Avenue early Saturday morning.

Police are investigating an incident in which two men claimed they were robbed and assaulted by a group of men on Railroad Avenue in Riverhead early Saturday morning, according to Riverhead Town Police.

Police responded shortly after 2:30 a.m. after a man called and said that he and a friend were assaulted and robbed of their cell phones and unknown amount of cash while walking on Railroad Avenue, according to police.

Due to conflicting accounts of what happened from the two victims, the only description that could be obtained of the men are that there were five or six people in the group.

The men punched and kicked the two victims and took their cell phones and unknown amount of cash they had on them, police said.
