Veterans of Foreign Wars to Host Food Drive For Veterans

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts 6249, 2476 and AARP Long Island announced they will hosting a food drive during the month of October in the towns of Brookhaven and Riverhead to help feed Veterans and their families.

Throughout the communities, local organizations, businesses, hospitals, and libraries are participating and serving as donation drop-off sites.

Donations of nonperishable food or household items can be made at the following locations:

RIVERHEAD AREA:

• Riverhead Free Library - 330 Court Street, Riverhead
• Riverhead Town Hall - 210 Howell Avenue, Riverhead
• Peconic Bay Medical Center – Lobby Area - 1300 Roanoke Avenue, Riverhead
• Riverhead VFW Post 2476 – Monday – Friday 2-4 pm - 620 Parkway Street, Riverhead
• Elks Lodge: Saturdays/Sundays 3-5 pm - 1239 E Main Street, Riverhead
• Advance Auto Parts - 1071 Old Country Road, Riverhead
• American Legion Post 273 – Monday – Fridays 3 - 5 p.m. - 89 Hubbard Avenue, Riverhead

BROOKHAVEN AREA:

• Rocky Point VFW Post 6249: Wednesdays 10-1pm and Saturdays noon- 2 pm. - 109 King Road, Rocky Point,
• Personal Fitness – 721 NY-25A, Rocky Point
• McCarrick’s Dairy – 751 NY-25A, Rocky Point
• American Legion Post 432 – Port Jeff Station – 3- 5 p.m. - 432 Hallock Avenue, Port Jefferson Station
• Port Jeff Bowl - 31 Chereb Lane, Port Jefferson Station

Various food stores throughout the town are participating as donation drop-off sites on select Saturdays during the month, so shoppers are encouraged to look for donations boxes at their local stores.
