Victim Hit In Head By Burglar In Riverhead: Police
BREAKING: The burglar got in through an open window, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A burglar hit a victim in the head and knocked him to the floor in Riverhead, police said.
According to Riverhead Town Police, a call came in a 11:41 p.m. Saturday from a Griffing Avenue residence about a burglary.
The victim reported that he returned home from work and gone into his apartment, police said.

Shortly after entering the apartment he was hit in the head and knocked to the floor by a subject who then climbed out an open window, police said.
The burglar fled north, leaving a backpack in the apartment that was found to contain items belonging to the victim, police said.

It was apparent that the victim walked in on a burglary in progress at his residence where the suspect entered and left through a north side window that had been left open, police said.
A search for the suspect by a Suffolk County Sheriff’s K-9 unit yielded no results, police said.
The victim sustained minor injuries that did not require medical treatment, police said.
The suspect was described as a tall male wearing dark colored clothing and a mask, police said.
