Wading River Fire Districts Invites Resident to Join Community Advisory Committee
The group was created to discuss infrastructural, safety and operations needs of Wading River's two firehouses.

The Wading River Fire District has started reviewing the infrastructural, safety and operations needs of its two firehouses and invites residents to help out by becoming a member of its new community advisory committee.
The group will hold its first meeting on Monday, May 4 at 7 p.m. at the Headquarters building, located at 1503 North Country Road in Wading River.
During the District’s community forum on last week, representatives outlined the problems involving the two firehouses especially Station 2, which was only meant to serve as a temporary structure when it was constructed 33 years ago and has served the community at least 13 years past its useful life.

The building cannot accomodate all equipment needed and has several safety deficiencies and space limitations that hinder the department’s ability to safely and effectively protect the community.
While great care has been taken to preserve these spaces over the last 68 years, changes in mandated safety regulations, spatial limitations and outdated building systems require attention.

The mission of the advisory committee will be to help develop a financially prudent plan to address these challenges and ensure the community continues to receive the quality service it deserves and has come to expect.
Any residents interested in joining the group are encouraged to attend the meeting on Monday or to email the District at info@wadingriverfd.org.
