The women who found the cup hope to reunite it with its rightful owners; it's been lost in the tides for 9 years.

JAMESPORT, NY — Two sisters walking on the beach in Jamesport recently found a cup given as a favor at a couple's wedding in Laurel nine years ago.

The cup, which says "Sarah & Gwayne, June 23, 2011," was found on the beach in Jamesport on Aug. 3, P.J. Bohen said in a Patch Neighbor Post.

"My sister and I were coming back from a walk, saw it poking up in the sand and proceeded to make up scenarios of how it got there," she said. "We then thought it would be fun to randomly include with our glasses as a conversation cup for our large family. In the end, it was decided to try and return it to the couple through Patch."

The hope, she said, is that the cup can be returned, a reminder of a happy day.

"Granted it only made it to one town away, but the cup did travel!" Bohen said. "Cheers to Sarah and Gwayne!"
