Winter Storm Event Declared In Riverhead

No parking is allowed on either side of the road during a winter storm event.

RIVERHEAD, NY — In light of the nor'easter expected to slam the area, Riverhead Town Supervisor Laura Jens-Smith declared a winter storm event.

The winter storm event was declared, beginning at 8 p.m. Monday night, due to weather conditions being forecast, which will mean snow, freezing rain, sleet, and ice on local roads, rendering vehicle travel potentially hazardous and necessitating the need for snow removal operation or other remediation efforts to address the winter storm, she said.

During a winter storm emergency, no parking is permitted on either side of any road and all Town of Riverhead departments are directed to take whatever steps are necessary to protect life, property, and public infrastructure, and to perform other emergency assistance as deemed necessary.
