Woman Arrested After Breaking Glass Door At Riverhead Library: Police

She was arrested Wednesday after a lengthy investigation, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A Riverhead woman was arrested after she broke the glass door at the Riverhead Free Library a few months ago, police said.

According to Riverhead Town police, the incident originally took place on April 19 when an alarm was activated at the library on Court Street; police arrived and saw that the front door glass had been broken, authorities said.

Riverhead detectives conducted an investigation and on Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 9:56 p.m., Britney McGowan, 29, was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a felony, due to the damage to the glass, police said.

She was processed and released on a desk appearance ticket, police said.
