Woman Found Injured After Gunshots Reported In Riverhead: Police
She sustained wounds to her arm, police say.
RIVERHEAD, NY — A woman was found with injuries in Riverhead after gunshots were reported early Wednesday morning, police said.
According to Riverhead Town Police, a call came in at 2:24 a.m. from a resident on East Main Street who reported hearing gunshots in the area. Patrol officers responded and found a woman with non-life threatening injuries to her right arm; the woman was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps for treatment, police said.
The cause of the incident is unknown and Riverhead detectives are investigating, police said. New York State Police assisted and their K-9 unit located and recovered evidence related to the investigation, police said.
