Woman Leads Police On Chase, Crashes With 2 Infants In Car: Cops
They crashed into a telephone pole, a parked car and through a fence with the babies, 4 months and 1 year, in the car, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — Two women led authorities on a chase and crashed with infants in the car Saturday, police said.
According to Riverhead Police, on Saturday at 11 a.m., authorities were notified of a larceny that had taken place at CVS.
A description of the women involved and vehicle were given to an officer who was already in the area; the officer was able to locate the vehicle, police said. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle as the driver began to flee, police said.

Shortly after, the vehicle struck a telephone pole, a parked vehicle, and crashed through a fence, nearly striking a home on Hamilton Ave. before coming to rest, police said.
The driver, Dominique M. Scaggs, 29, of Calverton, and passenger, Alicia M. Descalzo, 35, of Riverhead, were both taken into custody and placed under arrest; the driver had her two children, a 4-month old boy and a 1-year old girl, in the backseat of the vehicle during the chase and crash, police said.

The children were taken to Stony Brook Hospital for evaluation and were uninjured, police said.
Scaggs was charged with one count of fourth degree grand larceny, a felony; one count of driving while ability impaired by drugs, Leandra's Law, a felony; two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor; two counts of seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor; one count of reckless driving, a misdemeanor; one count of unlawful fleeing a police officer, a misdemeanor; one count of second degree aggravated unlicensed, a misdemeanor; and numerous vehicle and traffic violations, police said.
Descalzo was charged with one count of fourth degree grand larceny, a felony, police said.
The Riverhead Police Department's detective division was notified and responded to assist in the investigation; both women were transported to the Riverhead Police Department for processing and held for arraignment, police said. Child Protective Services was notified of the incident, police said.
