Woman Steals From Riverhead Target, Shocks Employee With Taser: Police

The employee was hospitalized for injuries from the taser shock, police say.

Police are seeking a woman who stole from a Riverhead store and tasered an employee on Christmas Eve, according to Riverhead Town Police.

Police responded to the Target store on 1150 Old Country Road on a report of a theft in progress at about 4 p.m.

It was reported that a woman, later identified as 33-year-old Victoria M. Deon, stole assorted merchandise from the store and while a stole employee tried to stop her, she produced a taser/stun gun and shocked the employee, according to police.

She fled on foot toward the Route 58 area, according to police.

Several patrol units responded, however they were unable to find her, police said.

The employee was transported from the scene by Riverhead Ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained as a result of being shocked, police said..

Deon remains at large at this time and is wanted by police. Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is asked to contact the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500.
