Woman Who Escaped Police Custody Apprehended: Authorities

BREAKING: The woman had escaped after being arraigned on a drug charge, police said.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A woman who escaped while in police custody has been apprehended, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, Michelle Bremmer was arrested on Thursday at 12:22 p.m.

Bremner escaped from custody on Tuesday at about 12:30 while being held in police headquarters, police said. An immediate investigation led to her location being discovered and her subsequent arrest, police said.

After she was apprehended, she was charged with third degree escape, police said. She was transported to Riverhead Police headquarters and processing and arraigned on Thursday, police said.

She had initially been arraigned on a drug-related charge, police said; she was sought by the Suffolk County Police Department on an outstanding warrant for seventh degree possession of a controlled substance, police said.
