$100M+ From State To Repave Roads

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The state is providing more than $100 million in funds to repave and enhance roadways impacted by the harsh winter weather. Funding will support 84 projects and the renewal of nearly 1,000 lane miles of pavement across the state, including at least one project in every county and New York City.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the funding Monday, which was awarded through the Harsh Winter Paving Initiative.

“These investments are critical to our transportation system and essential for community growth and regional economic competitiveness,” Cuomo said.

“By infusing more than $100 million in state funds to revitalize our roads, we are enhancing the quality of life for all New Yorkers while ensuring every traveler remains safe throughout the Empire State.”

The funding is in addition to the $743 million provided in this year’s budget in direct state aid to local governments for road and bridge repair and modernization.

The mid-Hudson Valley is slated to receive about $14.4 million to pave 86 lane miles of the following roads in Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster and Sullivan counties:

• $1.7 million to resurface Route 100 (Hillside Avenue) between Route 119 (Tarrytown Road) and Virginia Road in Westchester County.
• $1.8 million to resurface Route 100 between Parent Road and Route 202 in Westchester County
• $1.7 million to resurface Route 6 and Route 52 between Route 301 and Arborview Road in Putnam County.
• $2.6 million to resurface Route 6 between Old Greenville Turnpike and Route 17M in Orange County.
• $1.5 million to resurface Route 9W between Union Avenue (County Route 69) and Route 17K in Orange County.
• $590,000 to resurface Route 9W between Dunderberg Mountain and the north entrance of Seven Lakes Drive (Bear Mountain Park entrance) in Rockland County.
• $275,000 to resurface Route 299 between Route 32 (North Front Street) and the NYS Thruway Overpass (Interstate 87) in Ulster County.
• $1.0 million to resurface Route 199 between Stissing Mountain Road and Highway Blvd in Dutchess County.
• $2.0 million to resurface Route 97 between the Orange County line and VanTuyl Road in Sullivan County.
• $1.2 million to resurface Route 52 between Route 17B and Route 52A in Sullivan County.
