2 Hudson Valley Schools Earn 2017 National Blue Ribbon Awards
For 35 years, the U.S. Department of Education has been recognizing schools where all students can achieve at high levels.

Every year, the U. S. Department of Education celebrates American schools that demonstrate that all students can achieve at high levels. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos recognized 342 schools as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2017 based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.
The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has been recognizing high-performing schools for 35 years.
Two Hudson Valley schools made it onto this year's list, which recognized 342 public and private schools nationwide:

- Hastings High School, Hastings‐On‐Hudson Union Free School District
- Valhalla High School, Valhalla Union Free School District
“Education is paramount for our children, which is why it’s important to recognize and celebrate schools that set high standards and foster student achievement,” said Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D, Rockland/Westchester).
The US Education Department will formally recognize the 292 public and 50 private schools at an awards ceremony at the Omni Shoreham in Washington DC on Nov. 6 and 7.
