53 Irvington HS Students Inducted Into National Honor Society
They were selected for demonstrating a commitment to the attributes including scholarship, character, service and leadership.

IRVINGTON, NY — Fifty-three Irvington High School juniors and seniors were inducted as members of the National Honor Society during a recent ceremony. They were selected for demonstrating a commitment to the attributes to which the National Honor Society subscribes, which are scholarship, character, service and leadership.
“I truly enjoy working with the National Honor Society,” adviser Diana Cassidy said. “It is exciting to induct a new group of students and see what possibilities a new year brings. I enjoy working with our students on our various activities — whether in the community, such as collecting food for Irvington Senior Center’s food pantry, or within the school, like our peer tutoring program — and seeing the positive impact our activities have. New inductees give new energy for new things to happen.”
Before the students took their membership pledge, they heard welcoming remarks from Cassidy, while this year’s officers, Zoe Jacobs, Elizabeth Lee, Julia Levin and Alexandra Savino, participated in a candle-lighting ceremony. Irvington High School Principal Juliet Gevargis-Mizimakoski, Assistant Principal Matthew Samuelson and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kristopher Harrison presented the inductees with their membership certificates, cards and pins.

During her closing remarks, Gevargis-Mizimakoski addressed the new inductees and returning members and reminded them that they are all bright students.
“Please remember that what sets you apart is your character, your leadership and your commitment to serve others,” she said. “Please use these four pillars to continue to guide you here at IHS and in your life beyond high school.”
