In this image, this treasure of 19th century architecture stands—impossibly moody and ominous—atop its broad lawn at the in Dobbs Ferry. It was the home of the industrialist James Jenning McComb, whose daughters attended the school in its earliest days, and who was a major benefactor. It is in the National Register of Historic Places.
As an image-maker, I have predeliction for the moody and ominous, the uncanny and strange. Obviously, I have imposed this vision on this very beautiful building which was actually photographed on a late winter afternoon.
