Exuberant Tiled Roof

This handsome tiled roof in Irvington, with its assertive, buoyant lines and strong visual impact, caught my eye.

However, to make an image of it, I had to digitally excise a number of power lines which blocked my view. Also, to emphasize the nearly tactile quality of the expanse of tiles, I took this as a HDR (High Dynamic Range) image. This process involves taking several photos at different exposures and then combining them.

I made several other adjustments, including the saturation of the image, and added a vignette. For me, the final image suggests how this impressive residence might have appeared to its first occupants.
