I frequently walk "my" "dog"* Sally on the trails around the Irvington Reservoir. Fascinated as I am by the organic world (of course it's all organic), the power and energy contained in trees, and the ineluctability of change, so visible there, it is a favorite haunt.
*"my," because there is no sense in which I own her. I merely care for her. Otherwise it's a reciprocal relationship. "dog," because the word doesn't begin to capture the depth, complexity and personhood of my buddy.
