Breast Cancer Awareness Month Events

As part of Breast Cancer Awareness month Croton-on-Hudson's Laughing Hearts Yoga will hold a free yoga class for women who have been recently diagnosed with breast cancer and breast cancer survivors.

The session will be will run be yoga instructor and breast cancer survivor Lisa Nachtigall. The session will be held at Croton's Hudson Yoga studio on October 2 at 4 p.m. Laughing Hearts Yoga plans to hold these free classes on a weekly basis. Worth a trip to the city for this good cause: a formal masquerade at the Intrepid with a star-studded list of celebrity guests.

Sponsored by the Greater NYC Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the Pink Soiree: A Masquerade will start at 7 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum Complex on West 46th Street and 12th Avenue. Evening attire with masks requested.

Hosted by Dr. Mehmet Oz, event participants include Paulo Costanzo (TV’s Royal Pains), Kari Matchett (TV’s Covert Affairs) and Miss USA Alyssa Campanella.

Honorees are Theresa Lana and the Cancer Treatment Centers of America.

Also in the region, the is joining , a grassroots program designed to highlight breast cancer awareness that will feature a combination of educational displays, health fairs, special events, retailer offerings and a variety of other pink elements during the month of October.
