Car Into School Building Exposed Possible Asbestos Problem

There were no injuries in the accident, school officials said.

GREENBURGH, NY — A teacher driving to school mistakenly hit the accelerator and drove into a wing of the Woodlands Middle/High School Dec. 21 before school opened.

No one was injured in the accident, the Journal News said.

According to a Facebook post by the Greenburgh Central School District, the accident caused significant damage and while preparing to repair it, it was found that the existing tile and window caulk may contain asbestos materials.

The area was completely closed off.

Abatement took place and an air-quality test came back negative, the Journal News said.
