Child Dead, Mother Hospitalized in Croton-on-Hudson Tragedy

Police are investigating the death of a 6-year-old girl in Croton-on-Hudson on Easter Sunday.

Police were called to 144 Hastings Ave. by a 911 call at 1:09 p.m. They found a child, Lacey Carr, and her mother, Kathleen Dymes, both unconscious.

Emergency responders immediately began CPR. The two were taken to Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow, where the girl was pronounced dead.

The 911 call was made by father and ex-husband David Carr, who found the two, police said.

The home is owned by Dymes’ father. Because he was home at the time and was fine, police have ruled out carbon monoxide poisoning, said Croton Police Sgt. John Nikitopoulos.

Dymes is still hospitalized, he said.

Carr was a first-grader at Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School.
