College Roundup: Nov. 19-25

SPOTLIGHT ON: RYAN RIEFENHAUSER

At Buffalo's D'Youville College on the 24th, the Geneseo Blue Knights blew away their guests,120-66, with Ryan Riefenhauser of the visitors having a sensation day on the court. He was 2nd high in points scored with 16, with the result being a perfect 8-8 from the floor, had a game high of 9 assists, and a game high in assists, with 8 in the rout.

 

With the season now over, Yolanda Jones of Hastings and Virginia University of Lynchburg, was on the volley ball team there, and played in 41 of the Lady Dragons' games. She had 26 digs, 41 spikes, and 20 rebounds on the season, with the record 4-9.

the Skidmore Thoroughbreds' men's basketball five,

copped the win, 76-43, with Kevin Dahill scoring 6 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal in the win.

In the 2010 season, the two teams played each other in a game that tied for the longest Division III game ever recorded, at Bennington, Vt. Skidmore won that one in 7 overtimes, 128-123. It also tied for the longest N.C.A.A. game on record.

 

With Worcester Poly as the home opposition on the 20th, the Camels of Connecticut College dropped their game to the Crimson and Grey 66-57, despite the efforts of Tara Gabelman, the big star of the game, who led all players with 23 points, on 10-16 in field goals and 3-4 from the foul line. She was team high with 7 boards, and had 1 assist and 1 block on the night.

 

In a home game on the 20th with the Mt. Holyoke Lyons, the Lord Jeffs of Amherst topped their guests, 62-32, with Marley Giddins having 3 points on a field goal and 1-2 in foul tries, plus 6 boards, 3 assists, and 2 blocks in the game.

 

At the Northeast Wrestling Duels, held on the 24th in Troy, N.Y., the Columbia team bowed to Maryland, 27-10, and then to Rutgers, 30-6, while winning over Drexel, 26-9. Penn Gottfried of the Lions, grappling in the 125 pound division, lost to  his Terrapin opponent, 6-0, and then to his Scarlet Knights adversary, in 1:26, before winning over his Drexel foe, 4-1.
