SPOTLIGHT ON: LISA TESSITORE
In doubles competition at the I.T. A. tennis tournament on the 22nd through the 24th, wherein 24 teams were hosted at William Smith College in Geneva, Lisa Tessitore of Dobbs Ferry and Stevens Tech, played outstandingly as she and her partner knocked off number one ranked Ithaca with ease, 8-1 on the 22nd. The next day they disposed of The Sages, 8-2 , and that afternoon also eliminated Skidmore 8-1. On the 24th, in the semi-final round they lost their match to the hosts, 8-5 , who themselves were beaten in the championship face off, 6-2, 6-3. In singles competition Tessitore had lost to an opponent from The College of New Jersey , 6-1,6-1 , and then in the consolation match with another girl from the same institution, she won, 8-2.
In the most outstanding game of her college field hockey career, Lisa Bucci of Irvington had 7 shots, 3 on goal, 2 unassisted scores, and 1 assist, as Salve Regina blanked its host, Simmons, on the 19th, 6-0. Hosting Endicott on the 22nd, she led her team in shots with 5, including 2 on goal in the 6-2 loss.

At home with Lycoming of Pa. on the 22nd , Forward Nick Pastore of Hastings and Rochester had his finest college soccer game to date, as he had 4 shots, with 2 on goal, with the first of these coming at the 23.43 mark off a turnover, as the Yellow Jackets won the day , 4-1. In the game recap, Pastore , wearing the blue and white of Rochester, and sporting the number 24, is shown heading for pay dirt and the score.
In a home game with Utica on the 19th, Will Abbott of Irvington and the Riverdale Country School, assisted on the only goal of the game, on a flip over at 56:01, to top Utica, 1-0. Hosting Clarkson on the 22nd, he had 2 shots, with one on goal in the 4-1 victory.

In a 3-1 win over Springfield on the 22nd, Travis Blair of Hastings and Wheaton, had 4 shots, 2 on goal, and he tallied the Lyons ' final goal at 80.42, on a through pass in the game.
In a 2-0 loss on the 19th at Redlands, Becca Bortz of Dobbs Ferry and Chapman saw playing time in the game, while at La Verne on the 22nd, she had 2 shots, both on goal, and her second boot resulted in a goal , which came at the 41:45 mark, unassisted, in the 3-0 victory.
In a 4-1 loss at Keene State, Hannah Wilson of Irvington and Clark had 1 shot on goal in the game.

Running for the Blue Jays of Johns Hopkins, Abby Flock of Irvington and Hackley, finished 77th out of 123 harriers in the Salty Dog Invitational Cross Country meet at Annapolis on the 15th. Her time in the 8 meter race was 25.11.
In a 40-21 win at Frostburg State of Maryland, Skylar Griffenberg of Ardsley and Ithaca had 3 solo tackles in the victory - the Ithaca Bombers ' third such without a loss.
Hosting the Siena Saints on the 19th , Nicoleta Hardesty of the Vermont Catamounts , had 1 shot on goal in the 1-0 setback. With Maine as the guests on the 23rd, they lost on an unassisted goal, 3-2.

After being at Hartford for his sophomore year, Mike Kennelly of Irvngton returned to Oneonta and the Red Dragons this fall. In the first three matches , he swept all opponents, and is 2-1 one thus far in doubles play. In a match at Union College on the 20th, he dropped his singles match, 6-2, 6-4, while his doubles twosome also lost, 8-2.
Offensive left tackle Ali Marpet of Hastings and Hobart, started as usual in his squad's 42-21 win at the Merchant Academy on the 22nd, with the Diplomats undefeated in their first 4 games.
With Mt. St. Mary's as the opposition on the 19th, Chelsea Michaelis of Hastings and Bard and her partner won their doubles match, 8-2 .
Joanne Mumbey of DF and Johnson and Wales finished 70th in a meet at Wesleyan on the 22nd, as she was clocked at 21.56, with her team finishing 9th of 11 colleges, with 238 points. The host Cardinals won the meet with 49 points.
In a wild and woolly game with the U. of New Hampshire Wildcats as the home opposition, Tom Spenser of Hastings and the U. of Rhode Island Rams played 87:11 minutes of goal tending, during which team had has 11 shots directed at his cage, repelling 8 and having 3 get past him. He was pulled from the game with his squad behind , 3-2, and with 16 seconds remaining in regulation, the Rams tied the score.
In overtime , the team scored the winning goal, and his replacement, who in 11:07 minutes, had but a single save, and received credit for the victory. It was Rhode Island's initial victory of the season.
On the 22nd, at home with two foes, the Mt. Holyoke Lyons topped Elms in the opener, 3-0 , with outside hitterEmma Sweeting of Hastings had 3 spikes, 7 kills, 1 e, 25 total attacks, 1 slide attack, 4 returns, 1 block solo, and 1bh in the win. In the nightcap with Connecticut College, she had a game high total of 12 digs, 3 spikes, 1 slide attack , 4 returns, 7 kills1 e , 24 total attacks,, 3 slide attacks, 1se ,1 return, and 4 digs.
Sophie Sylla of Ardsley and Binghamton , in a soccer game at Marist on the 21st, appeared briefly in the 2-0 loss to the Red Foxes.
In a hard fought home game with the Merchant Marine Academy on the 19th, starting forward Mac Yumoto of Hastings and his N.Y.U. Violets ' soccer team maintained its unbeaten record, thanks to the contest's only goal, which came on a penalty kick by a teammate with only 15 seconds remaining in regulation.
